Possible swan song at Qualcomm won't be same as last year for Philip Rivers

SAN DIEGO – You can only say goodbye once.

That was the sentiment expressed by San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers, when asked what he expects the atmosphere to be like at Qualcomm Stadium in what could realistically be his team’s final game in that facility.

Chargers Chairman Dean Spanos is leaning on exercising his option to relocate the team to Los Angeles in January if no viable stadium option is secured in the next two weeks in San Diego.

Of course, the Chargers went through this same scenario last season on Dec. 20 in an emotional win over the Miami Dolphins, with thousands of fans staying afterwards to say goodbye.
