Philip Rivers will officially not play for Chargers next season and beyond

The speculation that 2019 would be Philip Rivers’ last with the team started early since this was the final year of his contract. However, many thought he could play his way into another short-term deal.

That was not the case as he had one of the worst seasons of his career in 2019 and in fact cost his team multiple games with his poor play. That speculation ramped up following a 5-11 season and came to a fever pitch when Rivers and his family moved out of San Diego and left for Florida.

The handwriting seemed to be on the wall at that point and on Monday, Jay Glazer reported that the Chargers have chosen to officially move on from their longtime quarterback.
