It was a community.
A group of Broncos coaches all raised their families in the same Denver-area neighborhood when Mike McCoy worked as offensive coordinator. Along with his family, Adam Gase’s was among them. There were cookouts and hangouts. At times, McCoy’s daughter babysat younger kids on the block.
The two men grew close over those years.
That hasn’t changed with time.
The former colleagues will face each other Sunday for the first time as opposing head coaches. McCoy, at the helm of the Chargers, and Gase, of the Dolphins, have not lost touch, most recently speaking in the past week, McCoy said Thursday.
