Mastery of offense keys Melvin Gordon's improved play speed

SAN DIEGO -- Melvin Gordon's 44-yard touchdown catch in the San Diego Chargers' preseason opener against the Tennessee Titans was a good example of what ailed the young running back during his rookie season.

A year ago, Gordon would have still been in the backfield contemplating who to block in pass protection.

But fast forward to his second season, Gordon quickly recognized San Diego's offensive line had everyone accounted for and leaked out to the flat.

Tennessee linebacker Avery Williamson was late picking up Gordon in coverage, and by the time he tracked down the Wisconsin product Gordon had bowled his way into the end zone.
