Kyle Shanahan was the ball boy when Anthony Lynn played for Broncos

COSTA MESA, Calif. -- Anthony Lynn's decades-long relationship with longtime NFL coach Mike Shanahan began when he served as a backup running back and special teams standout with the Denver Broncos in the late 1990s.

During his time with the Broncos, a precocious teenager, Shanahan's son Kyle, worked as the team's ball boy.

"He used to always mess with me when I was a kid," Kyle Shanahan joked about Lynn.

Still, even then, Lynn said he saw a future head coach in the younger Shanahan.

"He was raised in a coach's household," Lynn said.
