The Chargers will have their work cut out for them in 2026 when it comes to their internal free agents. Only 36 players are on the books for next season. The Chargers are currently slated to have just five 2026 NFL Draft picks to fill those spots as well. While they are projected to have over $100 million in cap space next season, much of that will need to be spent on retaining their current roster.
One of those players who might be signed to an extension to stay in Los Angeles is LG Zion Johnson. While the team declined his fifth-year option, that was more of a procedural move given that the that the option for offensive linemen doesn’t distinguish between tackles and guards.
