Observations from camp:
The team largely abstained from contact, using "walk-through" drills to sharpen mental processing and clean up miscues from Saturday's exhibition opener.
Absent was defensive end Sean Lissemore, who went on injured reserve Monday with a shoulder injury.
Another defensive end, Tenny Palepoi, is making progress from a leg injury that sidelined him Aug. 6.
So, counting also the absence of Joey Bosa, who is unsigned, the Chargers looked thin at defensive end.
"It's an opportunity for someone to step up," coach Mike McCoy said.
