Courtney Hall, captain of 1994 Super Bowl team, dies at 52

Courtney Hall, the Chargers’ second-round pick in the 1989 NFL Draft and the starting center for the team’s lone Super Bowl appearance, died on Thursday at the age of 52. The news was confirmed by the Houston Chronicle.

Hall was born in Los Angeles but played his prep football at Banning High School in Wilmington, California. At the young age of 16, Hall graduated high school and went on to play for Rice where he was a four-year letterman from 1985-1988. He started all 44 possible games in his career and was named a First-Team All-SWC selection as both a junior and senior.
