Since 2005, Nick Novak has earned a living by kicking footballs.
The San Diegan is still putting foot to cowhide, but these are new times, bringing new quirks to Novak’s grassy office.
When he goes about his job in the fledgling XFL, the 38-year-old former Chargers kicker is often accompanied by a camera person from one of the league’s broadcast partners, ESPN or Fox Sports.
During Sunday’s home opener of the Los Angeles Wildcats, his new work pal scurried with Novak, not only to the fringes of the field at the soccer park where the NFL Chargers played the past three years, but smack dab to the kickoff area.
