Column: Mike Tomlin’s Steelers proving trade critics wrong; Texans’ win-now moves paying off

It’s fun when the sports teams that try harder to win are rewarded for it.

The games have more zip when more teams are more urgent about winning, from ownership on down.

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Houston Texans, for instance, have added juice to this NFL season by going for it, even when few critics would’ve blamed their leaders for punting on this season.

Near the start of the season, the Steelers and Texans traded premium draft picks for NFL players who could help now.

The Steelers (7-5) are in the playoff race and the Texans (8-4) lead the AFC South, both clubs getting good returns from bold trades.
