No FDR am I — although I have been elected to a fourth term.
And certainly my date in no way is as historic or important as the beginning of a war. It’s about football, which likes to think it’s a war. Games do not make wars or heroes.
What makes 12/29/79 so important in NFL annals is that it may have been the date — 40 years ago today — of the worst loss in its 100-year history.
