Column: Don Coryell’s long-overdue ticket to Hall of Fame might be his — at last

This could be the NFL’s Kitty Hawk, a momentous moment in the history of football aviation.

The avant garde Air Coryell jet, which has been burning fuel, delayed and circling for years, may finally get permission to land in Canton.

It is the Ohio city that houses the Pro Football Hall of Fame. And, in that this is the museum’s centennial, the plan right now is to expand the number of 2020 inductees to 20 (or 12 above the normal max) — which includes 10 seniors (instead of one or two), three contributors (instead of one or two) and two coaches (there is no usual category for coaches).
