Chargers exec John Spanos optimistic for quick turnaround

Although there’s an outside chance the Chargers could begin offseason work at the team’s new practice facility in Costa Mesa in April, president of football operations John Spanos said the plan for now remains for players to conduct organized team activities and the team’s mandatory minicamp in June at Chargers Park in San Diego.

The team’s lease with the city of San Diego does not expire until July 1. Because the Chargers hired a new head coach in Anthony Lynn, the team can begin offseason work two weeks early, starting April 3.

“We’re trying to make it as seamless as possible for the players,” Spanos said.
