Chargers DE Joey Bosa expected to miss season opener vs. Chiefs

According to San Diego Union-Tribune’s Michael Gehlken, Bosa, who has been dealing with tightness as of late, is unlikely to play.

This isn’t necessarily surprising. As much as we all want to see him play, it’s smart for the coaches to hold him out. It doesn’t appear to be a serious injury, but you don’t want to make things worse. Hopefully, Bosa will suit up for Week 2’s home opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

For now, 2015 sixth-rounder Darius Philon will be the starter–and that’s not a bad thing. Philon has proved his worth to the team.
