SAN DIEGO -- Head coach Mike McCoy said ball security on offense and taking the ball away on defense were consistent points of emphasis for his team since the San Diego Chargers began offseason work in April.
The Chargers have been very successful at one aspect, but awful at the other. San Diego's defense is second in the NFL in takeaways with 24, but is tied for the league lead in turnovers with Jacksonville at 25.
San Diego’s inability to hold onto the football is one of the main reasons the team is 5-7 this season.
