Bad pitching. Bad defense. Weak offense. It’s hard to imagine how all that could possibly lead up to an outcome of losing a baseball game. I mean, who could have guessed? What are the odds? I’m sure Billy Eppler is flummoxed.
I’m not sure that this is something that Skipper Brad closes the clubhouse door to fix. Losing 5-4 when you started the 9th inning down 5-3 but load the bases with nobody out and your 3-4-5 hitters coming to the plate, well, that’s the perfect time to pull the Justin Upton/Shohei Ohtani cards. It’s the perfect time to say this outcome will be different in June, so just wait.
