Still in pain, Angels' Albert Pujols slogs through 0-for-20 drought

MINNEAPOLIS – Albert Pujols’ foot is hurting, and so is his batting average.

Pujols has been hitless in his last 20 at-bats, the second longest drought of his career. He went 0-for-23 in April 2012.

Although it’s likely his sore foot is causing his numbers to suffer, Pujols refused on Friday to connect the two: “I don’t make an excuses. I don’t use that as an excuse.”

Pujols has been dealing with a sore right foot since Aug. 28, when he hit the bag hard trying to beat a play at first base. He’s still not even sure exactly what the injury is.
