Squirrel at Red Sox-Yankees recalls past wildlife interruptions

Sports are great. Animals are great. When the two mix, it's incredible -- sometimes.

Fans at Yankee Stadium got to witness such a mix on Friday, when a squirrel made a brief appearance in the fourth inning of a contest between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees.

The squirrel emerged in the fourth inning from behind the plate, stopping right at Jhostynxon Garcia's left foot. The rodent took off again and stopped at the third base foul line before attempting to dig a hole in front of the mound.
