Ron Roenicke returns to Angels as third base coach

Ron Roenicke, the Angels third base coach when they won the World Series, will return to that role in 2016, part of a number of staff changes the team announced on Wednesday.

Gary DiSarcina, the third base coach the past two seasons, will move to first base. Alfredo Griffin, the longtime first base coach, will become the infield coach.

Steve Soliz, who had been the bullpen coach, will be the player information coach. Keith Johnson, who held that role after the midseason shakeup following Jerry Dipoto’s resignation, will return to manage at Triple-A Salt Lake City.

Roenicke, 59, returns to the Angels after spending 11 previous seasons on Mike Scioscia’s staff.
