The Angels are hiring ex-Tigers manager Brad Ausmus as a special assistant to GM Billy Eppler, the Orange County Register reports.
Ausmus will assist with scouting and evaluations of the Angels system, amateurs and players in other organizations, according to the Register.
Ausmus managed the Tigers from 2014 through this past season; the Tigers announced in September that the team would not extend his contract.
Also Tuesday, the Angels named Josh Paul as their new bench coach.
Paul spent the past three seasons as the New York Yankees' catching coordinator.
