ANAHEIM -- Angels infielder Cliff Pennington, who left Tuesday night's 11-9 win over the Tigers with a left hamstring strain, was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday. The 31-year-old veteran said it felt similar to the injury he dealt with throughout May.
To replace Pennington, the Angels selected infielder Brendan Ryan and right-hander Javy Guerra from Triple-A Salt Lake and optioned left-hander Chris Jones to Triple-A.
Pennington left Tuesday's game after he beat out a bunt single. He was replaced by pinch-runner Johnny Giavotella.
It was the same injury that had Pennington on the DL from May 13 until he was activated on Saturday.
