ANAHEIM -- Angels two-way phenom Shohei Ohtani departed his start against the Royals on Wednesday before the fifth inning with a blister on his right middle finger.
Ohtani warmed up to start the inning before Angels trainer Eric Munson and manager Mike Scioscia came out to the mound to check on him. Ohtani then walked off the field and headed straight to the clubhouse with Munson.
Ohtani allowed one run on four hits while walking three and striking out four. He threw 63 pitches.
The 23-year-old right-handed also exited his start against the Red Sox on April 17 after two innings with the same issue.
