Offense Roars Back to Score 10 As Halos Split Series with San Diego

Watching the first inning of tonight’s game made everyone’s stomach drop. Shohei Ohtani was hit in his pitching hand at the plate, but was called out when the umps said it was a swinging strike. It appeared to hit him in the wrist and everyone watched with bated breath as he sat in the dugout next to Ippei, his translator.

The broadcast kept panning over to him as he moved his wrist, touched the spot where he had been hit, and wrapped it in a towel and ice. Not only is Shohei the best active player on the Angels, but he is in the midst of what might be the greatest single season ever.
