Joe Smith recorded his first save of the season for the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday night and could be in line for more.
Closer Huston Street suffered a strained left oblique prior to the 4-2 win over Kansas City and will probably have to go on the disabled list.
The Angels have a day off Thursday, so they can postpone a decision until Friday. If Street is sidelined, Smith would take over as closer and the Angels would likely call up either Al Alburquerque or Cam Bedrosian from Triple-A to fill the open roster spot, reports Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register.
