For obvious reasons, we’ll start with the LA Angels. Despite finishing with a 72-90 record in 2019, the Halos are going to be a much improved team next season. Hiring Joe Maddon isn’t a move team makes without more plans to win.
The Angels will be a much more talented team in 2020, but what about the rest of the division?
Let’s start with a team who won’t be much competition in 2020: the Seattle Mariners. They’re still in the early stages of a rebuild that the front office won’t fully commit to. They’ll still field a somewhat competitive team to keep them out of the Baltimore/Kansas City/Detroit tier of teams.
