ANAHEIM -- Angels left fielder Justin Upton departed Thursday's series opener against the Rays in the sixth inning after being struck on the left hand/wrist area by a 94.8-mph fastball from Chris Archer.
Upton appeared to be in visible pain and walked off the field with an Angels trainer. Chris Young entered the game to run for Upton and then replaced him in left field in the seventh.
Upton has been one of the Angels' hottest hitters, batting .306 with seven home runs and 21 RBIs in 15 games this month entering Thursday.
