Giavotella wastes chances and Angels fall in 13innings to Houston

ANAHEIM – The Angels had their hottest hitter at the plate with a chance to win the game.

Twice.

Both times, though, Johnny Giavotella failed to so much as put the ball in play, striking out to scuttle two of the Angels best chances in what would be an 8-6, 13-inning loss to the Houston Astros on Sunday.

Giavotella got one more chance in the 13th – after Carlos Correa’s pinch-hit three-run homer against Mike Morin had put Houston on top. Giavotella represented the tying run with two outs, and he again struck out.
