DETROIT – Matt Shoemaker went home and turned back the clock.
Not only was Shoemaker pitching for the first time in the majors near his hometown, but he reverted to his 2014 form.
Shoemaker gave up one hit in 7 1/3 innings of the Angels’ 1-0 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Thursday afternoon.
The Angels' still-slumping offense didn’t do much against veteran Tigers pitcher Randy Wolf, but Shoemaker’s work still allowed them to take two of three in the series.
Shoemaker also helped save an Angels bullpen that had thrown 26 2/3 innings in the last six games.
