HOUSTON – The Angels may not have realized how valuable David Freese was until he was gone.
Now that he’s back, he’s proving it.
Freese belted a go-ahead two-out two-run double in the eighth inning, helping the Angels to a badly needed 6-5 victory over the Houston Astros on Wednesday afternoon.
By winning two of three in the series, the Angels pulled within 1 ½ games of Houston in the wild card race, with 10 games to go following Thursday’s off day.
This seesaw game had just turned the wrong way when the Angels saw what had been a 3-0 lead turn into a 4-3 deficit in the seventh inning.
