The Angels' Albert Pujols gets up after being thrown out at the plate on an Erick Aybar single in the seventh inning of Wednesday's game against the Rockies.

ANAHEIM — The advanced defensive metric Defensive Runs Saved determined that Mike Trout was worth nine runs below the major-league average in center field a season ago, and just one run above average so far this year.

Make that three runs this year. Trout saved two runs for the Angels in the field on Wednesday night, affording them the chance to win late, a chance they finally acted upon in the 11th inning, when Albert Pujols hit a walk-off sacrifice fly and the Angels beat the Colorado Rockies, 2-1.
