Felix Peña could begin season on Injured List with hamstring injury

The Angels made it an emphasis this offseason to add pitching, to both their starting rotation and bullpen. They did a pretty solid job all things considered, and improved on both ends. However, it looks like they’ll be starting the season short in the bullpen.

On Tuesday, Joe Maddon told reporters that Felix Peña was diagnosed with a grade 1 right hamstring strain. The timetable for his recovery is expected to be anywhere between two and four weeks.

Peña exited the game on Monday and received an MRI on Tuesday. Best-case scenario is that he might be ready for Opening Day, but based on the timetable given it seems likely he’ll begin the season on the Injured List.
