BOSTON – The back end of the Angels’ bullpen is intact again, as it has been rarely this season.
Setup man Joe Smith was activated from the disabled on Friday, rejoining closer Huston Street in the bullpen. Smith was out for more than three weeks with a strained hamstring, which he suffered shortly after Street missed five weeks with a strained oblique.
Manager Mike Scioscia said Smith won’t necessarily go immediately back into his eighth-inning role, though. He said Cam Bedrosian and Fernando Salas could still get opportunities in that spot until Smith has come back and reestablished himself.
