Angels Notes: Cliff Pennington heads back to DL

ANAHEIM – Just as he feared after he strained his hamstring beating out an infield hit on Tuesday night, Cliff Pennington was placed on the disabled list on Wednesday.

Pennington, who had just been activated after a hamstring injury on Saturday, pushed the Angels DL total back to nine players.

Brendan Ryan was recalled to take Pennington’s spot. Ryan had just been designated for assignment when Pennington was activated on Saturday. He just cleared waivers on accepted his outright on Tuesday, hours before Pennington got hurt. Ryan never even left Southern California.
