In Fabian Ardaya’s profile of the newly-extended David Fletcher at The Athletic, he recalls Mike Gallego telling then-GM Billy Eppler about Fletcher in 2017, “You really don’t have to look too far, because we got your future second baseman standing right here in Double A.”
Dan Szymborski at FanGraphs analyzed the Fletcher contract: “Fletcher’s lack of power likely keeps him out of superstar territory, but he should be a solid starter for a long time for the Angels, who have struggled mightily to find players like that.
