ANAHEIM - Garrett Richards, the Angels’ ace who was diagnosed with an ulnar collateral ligament tear, said Friday he will seek a second opinion before electing to undergo Tommy John surgery.
Surgery, which is likely, would end Richards’ season and delay his start to next year. Recovery typically lasts 12-16 months.
He told reporters earlier in the week he felt fatigued and was later scratched from his scheduled start Friday in the opener of the Angels' weekend series against the Tampa Bay Rays.
