Angels come up empty against Yanks' Tanaka

Yankees starter Masahiro Tanaka earned the win, striking out nine without issuing a walk over 7 2/3 innings. He retired the first 11 batters he faced before allowing consecutive singles to Mike Trout and Albert Pujols in the fourth. Tanaka then recorded seven outs in a row before another Trout single leading off the seventh.

Weaver was charged with five runs on 10 hits in 4 2/3 innings. He was removed after the home run to McCann. Friday's start marked the first time Weaver allowed four or more homers in a game since April 6, 2014, against the Astros.
