'We don't know if he's settled things with a new club': Bayern Munich insist they have not been contacted by Liverpool over their interest in signing midfielder Thiago Alcantara

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed that Liverpool target Thiago Alcantara has asked to leave this summer, but says the club have yet to receive any offers for the £36million-rated midfielder.

The 29-year-old was part of the squad that won the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal this summer but is now keen to move on after winning the league in each of his seven seasons in Bavaria, plus four cup triumphs.

Thiago only has one year left to run on his current contract at Bayern, and Rummenigge says the Spain international has made Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic aware of his desire for a new challenge.
