'This is not acceptable': Jamie Carragher slams Liverpool for six-game winless run at Anfield - including four league defeats in a row for the first time since 1923 - and says that absence of Virgil van Dijk CANNOT be used as an excuse

Jamie Carragher has slammed his former club Liverpool for their recent woeful home form and said they cannot use the long-term absence of Virgil van Dijk as an excuse.

Heading into 2021, the Reds had not lost at Anfield in the Premier League since a 2-1 defeat by Crystal Palace in April 2017.

However, Jurgen Klopp's men have lost their last four top-flight games, losing to Burnley, Brighton, Manchester City and Everton. Home draws with Manchester United and West Brom have contributed to the miserable run.

That defeat to the Toffees on Saturday saw Liverpool lose a Merseyside derby at home for the first time since 1999 and means they have lost four home league games in a row for the first time since 1923.
