'There’s no way you could say that this is a viable competition': Watford captain Troy Deeney says coronavirus has eroded 'integrity' of the Premier League season, as he admits he feels sorry for Liverpool and their players

Troy Deeney believes the current Premier League has lost all integrity and that Liverpool's eventual title win will always be overshadowed by the coronavirus pandemic.

The Watford captain has been one of the leading voice in opposing Project Restart proposals and has decided not to make a return to training due to the health risks linked to COVID-19.

Deeney is unwilling to risk the health of his five-month-old son, who was born premature and has breathing difficulties.

While talks with Premier League bosses and England's deputy chief medical officer, Jonathan Van-Tam have helped ease his fears, Deeney is still adamant that the current campaign should've been written off and that Liverpool's long wait for a Premier League title will be sullied.
