Politicians and fan groups have expressed incredulity and fear that UEFA are pushing ahead with planning for the Champions League final in Istanbul in June with the same management team that was deemed 'primarily responsible' for last year's final chaos which almost turned into a 'mass fatality catastrophe'.
The UEFA independent review, which was published last week, has corroborated The Mail on Sunday's own findings from last year's debacle and cited Sportsmail as a key source for its work.
It confirmed, as the MoS revealed, that fatalities were only avoided at the Stade de France in Paris because of the calmness of Liverpool fans, that there was a complete breakdown among authorities in planning, a probable technological failure in scanning tickets and that there was 'no evidence fake tickets were a factor' in the chaos.
