Golfing giants Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth remain at odds on the future of the PGA Tour following a heated hour-long phone call between the pair.

LIV Golf and their financial backers, the Saudi Public Investment Fund, remain in talks with the PGA Tour over a possible merger, but there has been no progress since the deal was announced last June.

Since then, the Tour has gained an £2.4billion investment from Strategic Sports Group (SSG) - a consortium fronted up by Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group - as part of the new PGA Tour Enterprises entity.
