Ronald Koeman confirms Liverpool's Georginio Wijnaldum 'could be an option in the future' for Barcelona after he failed to land him last summer, with the Dutch midfielder able to start talks in January

Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman has admitted Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum might be an option to pursue in future.

Wijnaldum, 30, was strongly linked to Barcelona over the summer as central midfielders Arthur Melo and Ivan Rakitic left for Juventus and Sevilla respectively, but he ended up staying at Anfield.

Koeman was Holland boss from 2018 to 2020 and 68-cap international Wijnaldum played regularly under his tenure, so they know each other well.
