RB Leipzig chief opens door to Timo Werner exit

The 23-year-old netted again on Saturday – his third goal in his last four Bundesliga outings, while he also has as many assists to boot – in Leipzig’s 2-0 win over Wolfsburg, taking his tally for the season to 14.

Speaking at half-time in the match, the club’s chief executive Oliver Mintzlaff admitted that Werner may be playing his final games for Leipzig.

‘It’s well known that we want to extend with him, but he’s signalled to us that he does not want to sign a new contract,’ Mintzlaff told Sky Sports.

‘We need to see what’s right for us and for Timo.
