Napoli 4-1 Liverpool: Jurgen Klopp's side make a disastrous start to their Champions League group in Italy as Piotr Zielinski grabs a brace for the impressive hosts on an abysmal night for the Reds

Liverpool endured a humiliating 4-1 defeat to Napoli at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium on Wednesday, producing a nightmare start to their Champions League campaign.

In an electric first-half Piotr Zielinski scored from the penalty spot before Victor Osimhen doubled Napoli’s lead after missing a spot-kick of his own. Substitute Giovanni Simeone rubbed salt in Liverpool wounds with a third one minute before the break.

Jurgen Klopp’s side found themselves four down shortly after half-time through Zielinski again, and Liverpool failed to mount a significant comeback despite Luis Diaz netting in the 49th minute.
