'My wife was MUGGED... my eldest boy was ATTACKED': Jason McAteer gives emotional personal account of the events outside the Stade de France at the Champions League final... as he reflects on a 'scary' evening for Liverpool fans in Paris

Former Liverpool midfielder Jason McAteer has revealed that his family were caught up in the troubling scenes that overshadowed Saturday's Champions League final.

With the Reds taking on Real Madrid in Paris, 20,000 Liverpool fans tried to get into the Stade de France ahead of kick-off in the hope of watching their team claim a seventh European Cup.

However, a significant number of supporters had problems with getting into the stadium, and McAteer has given a personal account of how the evening played out for him and his loved ones.
