MIKE DEAN: John Brooks was RIGHT to show Virgil van Dijk a red card in Liverpool's win over Newcastle... and the official should have sent Trent Alexander-Arnold off too

Liverpool earned a dramatic 2-1 victory over Newcastle on Sunday with Darwin Nunez scoring twice late for the 10-man visitors.

Jurgen Klopp's side saw Virgil van Dijk sent off in the first half for denying Alexander Isak a clear goalscoring opportunity, minutes after Anthony Gordon had put the hosts ahead.

Van Dijk's team-mate Trent Alexander-Arnold had earlier avoided a second yellow card for a foul on Gordon in a frantic start to the match.

Former Premier League referee MIKE DEAN gives his verdict on the two incidents below.
