Man City and Liverpool condemn 'wholly unacceptable' crowd trouble during Carabao Cup tie after 15-year-old girl suffered head injuries when a glass bottle was thrown and disabled Reds fans were allegedly racially abused

Manchester City and Liverpool have condemned the 'wholly unacceptable' behaviour of some fans at Thursday night's Carabao Cup tie after a teenage girl suffered head injuries and disabled supporters were allegedly racially abused.

Despite appeals for calm before the game at the Etihad Stadium, Greater Manchester Police said a 15-year-old girl was injured after objects - including coins, glass bottles and a smoke bomb - were thrown during City's 3-2 win.

A 53-year-old man was assaulted outside the ground after the match and required hospital treatment, while a man was arrested for a racially aggravated public order offence.
