Liverpool's quest for a new sporting director is 'going in the right direction', insists Jurgen Klopp - but Reds boss admits he is not directly 'involved' in their hiring process as they plot to rebuild this summer after a poor term

Jurgen Klopp insists Liverpool's search for a new Sporting Director remains on track but explained he will not make the ultimate decision in terms of an appointment.

Julian Ward, who is currently in the role, will step down at the end of the season. He only took over in the position 12 months ago when Michael Edwards walked away having completed 10 years at the club.

Liverpool's recruitment programme was widely lauded for the work they did to bring players such as Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho, Alisson Becker and, more recently, Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo to name a few.
