Liverpool to submit plans for Anfield expansion this week as they look for approval on proposal that will take capacity above 61,000 - giving it the third largest capacity in the top flight

Liverpool will submit their planning application for the further redevelopment of Anfield this week.

The planning application for the Anfield Road stand had originally been suspended in spring this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

However, details will be handed over to Liverpool City Council, and approval would see the ground's capacity expanded by around 7,000.

That would see Anfield's capacity increased to more than 61,000 - giving it the third largest in the top flight.
