Liverpool target Malick Thiaw admits he is 'happy' to be linked with the Premier League champions as Reds mull over Schalke's teenage central defender amid injury crisis at the back

Schalke defender Malick Thiaw has admitted that he is flattered to be linked with Liverpool as the Reds consider whether to make a bid for the youngster in January.

Jurgen Klopp has been left with an injury crisis at the back after long-term injuries to Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.

Joel Matip, Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams are the only fit centre backs available with Fabinho, who can play in that role, also on the sidelines.
